Adrian Johnatans founded in 2004 the association in Lausanne with the aim of creating a wrestling scene in a region where this sport is still unknown. A ring is built in a traditional way, which is particularly difficult to move and the SPW struggles to start.

 

In 2007, the association submitted a request for financial support to the city of Lausanne  who agrees to pay 2500 Swiss francs to the SPW to help buy a ring.

That same year, the SPW became an advertising partner for shows WWE  in Switzerland giving it access to good visibility from the public.

In 2010 the American Wrestling Friborg association was created in le Canton of Friborg by Max Steigger, SPW wrestler, with promotion and wrestling school format. The SPW in its form of association then takes the name Helvetic Wrestling and a wrestling federation regrouping several regional clubs is created, reusing names, logos and graphic line of the SPW.

In 2019 the SPW joined forces with the production house All The Content for the creation of the very first wrestling television show 100% made in Switzerland. The latter is broadcast on Grand Genève TV and Ajoie TV.
